Press Release

An Extreme Auction in Mediaeval Surroundings

The end of an era . . .
Having received instructions from Dennis Buggins who has run an antique restoration business for 30 years, Humberts are pleased to announce the auction of the contents of Hurst Farm, Chilham, Kent, together with the stock of ExtremeArchitecture.com.
Having moved to Hurst Farm in 1986 Dennis spent several years restoring the unique 13th Century hall house. He has created a home with a fantastic atmosphere which is a superb backdrop to the eclectic contents which he has amassed over the past thirty years or so.
As Managing Director of a furniture restoration company, along with his personal possessions, we will be offering many of the pieces of furniture bought over the years for the timber and restoration materials which can now become incorporated into someone else's project or be restored to their former glory, a service that can even be provided.
Several years ago the Company diversified into Architectural Salvage; his most notable purchase being the Baltic Exchange building, salvaged after it was bombed and replaced by the Gherkin, but is now sold, happily on its way to being reconstructed in Tallinn. Consequently, we will also be offering the residual stock of ExtremeArchitecture.com which includes Christopher Wren's Lodge from the Temple Bar and the Royal Box from Ascot which was removed in a recent refurbishment.
Throughout the grounds of Hurst Farm lie all manner of unusual and interesting objects including stone troughs, garden urns, statuary, gates, garden seats etc with guideline estimates to suit everybody.
The auction will take place on Thursday 27th and Friday 28th September 2007 on the premises at Hurst Farm.
For further information contact Jeremy Sparks, 01580 713828, e-mail: cranbrook.auctions@humberts.co.uk
